BEST LOCATIONS IN WILMINGTON NC FOR FAMILY SESSION
There are a lot of things that make these locations the best spots here in Wilmington, NC. I have picked my favorite locations that offer adventure, fun, and of course a gorgeous spot for all photos. I’ve made this list for you with all the spots I’ve found that work great for family sessions!
Wrightsville Beach, NC
There are so many good spots at Wrightsville Beach. The beautiful Dunes, the ocean, and marshy areas. Not all beaches offer all of this but Wrightsville Beach is one that does! Not only is it gorgeous, but families love how fun it is here. I mean, who doesn’t love the ocean?! (If you don’t, keep reading for other spots). We can search for crabs, spot dolphin, and make huge splashes. Plus, getting in the water can make gorgeous photos.
2. The Wilmington Arboretum
This place is wonderful for those who are wanting something different than the beach. There is gorgeous flowers and greenery throughout. The Arboretum also has a pond with those big koi fish and a feeding area for the kids to feed them. They have a bright red bridge that makes for some amazing photos as well as a kid size play house. With plenty of room to run around, this is definitely a favorite location of mine.
3. Poplar Grove Plantation in Hampstead, NC
Poplar Grove is such a cool place to visit. There is so much….There’s history, events, festivals, tours, plus a petting farm! They have horses, pigs, goats, turkeys, chickens, and more. Kids love it here. Where the session takes place though is the amazing trails that are on the property. This makes it an adventure session for the kids. We get to go hiking and find the huge pond!
4. Masonboro Island
Now this one you need a boat for, but it is so worth it! A few minutes by boat and you have your own private island for your session, free of crowds. There are two areas we can photograph at too, the ocean side and the intracoastal. Plus dogs are welcome all year long here!
5. Historic Downtown, Wilmington
If you love the urban vibe or the history of Wilmington, this would be the location. There are gorgeous historic buildings, cobblestone roads, horse carriages, and the Cape Fear River.
6. Fort Fisher, NC
I saved my favorite spot for last. Fort Fisher was a monumental area during the Civil War and is now a State Park with lots of history. I love having sessions here for the huge variety of backgrounds. You get gorgeous backdrops like the ocean, bolder rocks, unique trees, and the river area.
