Before and After: Discover how I edit my photos!
One of my favorite parts of starting to learn photography was learning the editing. I would spend hours looking at how people edit and picking up my own unique style. So, for anyone who is curious of my editing, I decided to share with you my process.
First, I almost use 100% lightroom for all my editing and, if needed, I bring the photo into photoshop for minor changes. The editing process is much more time consuming than the actual photo shooting. I always make sure the photo is exactly the way I like it before I deliver the gallery.
After I choose which photos are the best and I want to edit, I start with cropping the photo and aligning. I always like to make sure the horizon is straight. In this photo, I began with a preset I use for many of my beach photos. I increase the temperature to add a golden hue and almost always increase contrast and adjust highlights and shadows.
In this edit, I begin with a BW preset I have. This helps to adjust the tone and colors to make it a black and white that is unique to my editing style. I then adjust the exposure, contrast, highlights, and shadows in the image to my liking.
This photo I began with a VSCO preset (one from the pack 5). Any preset I have used is always just a starting point which I tweak to my liking. It usually takes me a little while to get the colors just right. I also will use a smoothing tool on subject’s skin if needed or remove a blemish or scratch.
I hope you have enjoyed my editing process and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me in the comments.
